Before joining the
Queensland Bar in 2003, Chris had over twenty years experience in law and
management. He has worked as General
Manager, Corporate Services & Company Secretary of Tarong Energy Corporation,
a Chris is also a qualified teacher and currently lectures
part time in law at Queensland University of Technology. He has a Master of Laws
and a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Laws and Arts, and
Diplomas in Education and Company Secretarial Practice. He has also completed a Professional
Certificate in Arbitration.
Randal has completed
specialist mediation training through Randal was also a member of
the Queensland Police Service for thirteen years prior to his admission as a
lawyer.
Janet
Barnes
is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution
Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates
under that section of The Family Law Act 1975 and completed a Bachelor
of Laws (Hons) at QUT in 1983. She was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme
Court of Queensland 1983 and the High Court of Australia 1997. Janet has been
a Queensland Law Society approved mediator since 2002. Janet has been practicing law
for twenty years both in
Judy
Stewart
is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner
with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under
that section of The Family Law Act 1975 and has facilitated family law
mediations since 1995. She has a Bachelor of Social Work conferred in 1988
and a Bachelor of Laws conferred in 2003. Judy has undertaken basic and
advanced mediation training and is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution
Practitioner under the Commonwealth Family
Law Act. Judy has provided mediation services to Legal Aid
Kay has been a member of the Social
Security Appeals tribunal which has enhanced her knowledge and understanding
of the many Centrelink issues that need to be dealt with in the resolution of
many family law matters. She has also held contracts as a senior case
officer within the Child
Support
Agency. This role gave her a depth of understanding of the complex child
support legislation and its implementation. Her membership of the Migration
Review Tribunal further developed her knowledge of administrative law. She
has undertaken conciliation conferences for the Federal Magistrates Court at
Relationships Australia. Kay has worked in Family law at
Cooper Grace Ward since 1996 and is an accredited specialist in family law.
Her interest in and commitment to mediated outcomes has developed through
years of such practise.
Penny is an approved mediator
with the Queensland Law Society, Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts of
Queensland,as well as Legal Aid She is a member of the Queensland
Law Society, Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators,
Family Law Practitioners Association, Law Council of Australia – Family Law
Section, LEADR, and the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland. Penny is a Conciliator with
Relationships Australia in conciliations ordered by the Federal Magistrates
Court. She is a part time member of the Guardianship and Administration
Tribunal, the Children Services Tribunal and the Mental Health Review
Tribunal. Penny has been engaged by the Child Support Agency as a Senior Case
Officer since 1997. Penny has spoken on issues
relating to mediation at the 2005 and 2007 Family Law Residentials. She is a
mediation coach with the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies and
the Queensland Law Society.
Michael
has extensive experience in all jurisdictions. At the Bar he developed
a specialist practice in Administrative Law and held positions including:

Sue
Lewis
is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney
General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under that section of
The Family Law Act 1975 and graduated from the Sue specialised in the Child Protection and Family Welfare fields (including domestic violence, substance dependency, mental illness, indigenous and multicultural issues and so forth).
Sue has experience in
preparing reports for the Children’s, Family, Federal Magistrates, and
Supreme Courts as well as the Children’s Commission and Children’s Services
Tribunal, in matters of Child Protection and Family Issues. She has also
prepared reports for: ·
the
Magistrates, District / Supreme Courts in relation to criminal matters; ·
the
Department of Immigration in determining matters relating to residency in ·
the
Department of Families to assist in Court processes and/or case planning. Sue undertakes counselling with children,
adults, couples and families in the context of Family Law and Child
Protection issues.
Sue
Waterman
is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution
Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601
Certificates under that section of The Family Law Act 1975 and
obtained a Bachelor of Social Work from the Prior to entering private practice, she was employed for 10 years in Child and Youth Mental Health and has experience in the areas of adult psychiatric health and child sexual abuse. She was previously a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and the Children’s Services Review Tribunal. Sue has undertaken advanced training
in Mediation and has been conducting mediations since 1995.
Peter
Sheehy is
a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney
General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under that section of The
Family Law Act 1975 and was admitted as a solicitor in 1975. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Peter practiced initially in
Building and Construction litigation and then for 18 months worked in the Peter’s experience in mediation involves both
court-appointed and private Family Law and De Facto Law related matters, as
well as employment and sex discrimination matters, and corporate management
disputes. Peter is an adjunct lecturer in
Family Law practice with the
Shanna
Quinn
is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner
with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under
that section of The Family Law Act 1975 and was initially trained as a
mediator in 1991 and has undertaken significant subsequent training in both
matrimonial and commercial mediation. She has Bachelor’s and Master’s
degrees
in social work and has been working as a practitioner for over 25 years.
Shanna also has a Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree. Shanna established a private
practice in 1988 in Shanna has worked in and for the private
sector, all three tiers of government and the police service. She maintains
her longstanding interest in working with children and separating families
and continues to provide expert witness opinion to the Family Court of
Australia. Her overseas experience provides her with regular opportunities to
work with widely diverse cultures, significant quantum and disputes of a
unique nature.
Peter Jordan is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under that section of The Family Law Act 1975 and is a psychologist and mediator in private practice. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Master's degree in psychology specializing in educational and developmental psychology, as well as qualifications in special education and school counselling. He is a former teacher and school counsellor and has special expertise in all areas of developmental psychology. He commenced his mediation practice in educational settings where he has over twenty years experience. He has since expanded his mediation skills to include family and work disputes. He has worked across health, education and welfare settings, is a member of the WorkCover Queensland Psychologists’ Panel and a supervisor for the Queensland Ambulance Service Peer Support Program. Psychological Services in
Michelle Dooley is a qualified Solicitor and a Queensland Law
Society Accredited Mediator and is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution
Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601
Certificates under that section of The Family Law Act 1975. Michelle
graduated LL.B from QUT in 1986. Since 1987 she has been practicing in
private practice as a principal solicitor at Dooley Solicitors, Michelle has extensive experience
as a mediator. She has been a chairperson of Legal Aid Queensland Family Law
Conferences since 1994, a panel mediator with the Consumer and Commercial
Tribunal (Building Disputes) since 1997 and with the Retail Shop Leases
Tribunal (Commercial Tenancy Disputes) since 1998. Michelle is also an
Independent Children’s Lawyer in the Family Court and in the Federal Magistrates
Court.
Jennifer Boulton is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under that section of The Family Law Act 1975 and has been a solicitor for 27 years, practicing exclusively in the area of Family Law since her admission. She has practiced in Queensland and in New South Wales. She currently has her own legal practice. Jennifer has undertaken mediations for Legal Aid since 1992 and also private mediations both in the areas of property and children’s matters. She has mediated a significant number of mediations since 1992. Jennifer is an accredited mediator with the Queensland Law Society. She has conducted conciliation conferences for the Federal Magistrates Court at Relationships Australia. Since 1992 Jennifer has also been
on the panel of Independent Child Lawyers with the Legal Aid Office
Queensland representing children in Family Law matters.
Chris is a Law Society approved Mediator. He has training in dispute resolution from Bond University's School of Law and from the Dispute Resolution Centre with the Queensland Department of Justice. Chris is also a member of the family dispute resolution conference chairperson panel for Legal Aid Queensland, and occasionally writes for the Queensland Law Society Magazine "Proctor" on family law issues.
He is an accredited mediator with the Qld Law Society, all Queensland Courts and the Family Court of Australia. He is also a panel mediator for the Retail Shop Lease Tribunal, Dispute Resolution Centre (Qld Justice Department), Legal Aid Queensland and the Residential Tenancies Authority. James has been mediating since 1991. He has mediated over 1000 disputes throughout Queensland ranging from family law matters, workplace disputes, commercial and financial disputes, multi-party disputes for the Queensland Police Service and Queensland Sugar Board and disputes in remote indigenous communities in the North Queensland including native title issues. He has also facilitated community consultative committees in respect to waste management, the real estate industry, tropical health and Queensland Health. He was also a mediator in the first program involving victim-offender mediations in Queensland. Of special interest he was a mediator for the Anglican Church in Brisbane in respect to sexual abuse claims against clergy.
Tom has attained a Bachelor of Laws, a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Mediation. Tom is accredited as a specialist and senior mediator and mentor with LEADR, IAMA, the Queensland Law Society, the Defence Department and all Queensland Courts and the Federal Magistrates Court. In 2006 he was accredited to mediate disputes under the Federal Government’s Workplace Relations legislation. In addition to coaching and
training in mediation for LEADR, Bond University, the Department of Defence,
ACPACS and the University of Queensland, he sits on the Queensland Law
Society ADR Committee and was a former Director of LEADR and President of the
NT Mediation Association. He is the founder of the Queensland ADR Forum.
Mieke has specialised in assisting to resolve family and workplace disputes, published many articles, and presented at conferences in Australia and overseas. She is also extensively involved in a range of courses provided by different universities as lecturer, tutor, trainer, coach, assessor, and supervises and mentors others. Mieke was employed as a family dispute resolution practitioner with Relationships Australia from 1993-2007 and is a community mediator with the Dispute Resolution Branch, Queensland Attorney-General’s Department since 1989.
Patrick Cavanagh, accredited mediator,
has a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws with Honours. Patrick is
involved with Bond University as Adjunct Professor of Law and Director of the
Bond Legal Negotiation Project and an Adjunct Associate Professor at
Queensland University Law School and Curtin University’s Business School in
Perth.
Patrick has been in over 700 mediations involving commercial disputes throughout Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.
Anne Purcell is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under that section of The Family Law Act 1975. Anne works in educational psychology and specialises in mediations involving families, property and particularly parenting plans focusing on children’s developmental and emotional needs. She has an interest in high-conflict and complex matters. She is Managing Partner of the Family Dispute Services Division at the Park Road Group, in Brisbane. Additionally, Anne conducts mediations/conferences for Legal Aid Queensland and Relationships Australia where she works on both Federal Magistrate Court and voluntary matters. As a registered teacher and academic, she coaches and trains in mediation for Bond University and UQ, and in educational psychology for ACU. Anne conducts professional development in mediation skills and the psychology of conflict. Her clients include The Queensland Bar, The Dispute Resolution Centre/Faculty of Law, Bond University and the Queensland Law Society.
Megan Morris is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General's Department able to issue S601 Certificates under that section of The Family Law Act 1975. A registered psychologist and mediator, initially Megan worked in senior management in the hospitality industry and taught communications and lifeskills for TAFE Queensland before living overseas for a period of 10 years. During this time she provided psychological support to Australian, British and New Zealand High Commissions and the American Peace Corps in both Thailand and Vanuatu as well as providing a consultancy for individuals and families on a private basis. Megan provided psychological support for personal and workplace issues. In addition during her time overseas Megan took an active interest in childrens' education and activities as both a board member of the international school in Vanuatu and chairperson of the voluntary committee at the New International School in Thailand as well as a member of a diverse group of international and local organisations supporting local women and childrens' health and well-being.
